5 Easy Ways to Maximize Your Morning Routine
Whether you’re an early bird or tend to grumble your way through a few snooze alarms (definitely been guilty of this one!), a structured daily routine can greatly maximize your A.M. productivity and add some precious calm to the hustle and bustle of your day. BEFORE you grab your phone in the morning (yes, BEFORE!), try these five simple, centering, body-honoring steps to start a new daily routine:

1. Make your bed

For those of us that got pretty lazy about this mindless task starting around, oh, I dunno, the second our mothers stopped governing all our cleaning habits, this one might seem silly, but don’t discount its positive impact! Simply making your bed can start your morning off on the right foot because it gives an immediate sense of accomplishment once those sheets and pillows are straightened up. A secondary benefit? It keeps you from sliding back under the covers and disrupting your morning productivity!

2. Drink a glass of water

Hydration, hydration, hydration! Staying adequately hydrated is essential no matter the time, but kicking off the day with a glass of water is an excellent way to remind your brain of its importance first thing in the morning. Staying properly hydrated will improve mental performance and enable peak physical performance throughout the day, too.

3. Get in a quick workout

Whether it’s a brisk walk, a bike ride, a jog in the park, or yoga, set aside a small block of time to get your muscles moving. The adrenaline and endorphins will wake you right up and knock any residual stress outta that brain. Higher intensity movements like cycling will elevate your heart rate, get your blood flowing, and burn serious calories! Furthermore, studies show that if you work out in the morning, you’re likely to make healthier choices throughout the day AND sleep better at night. Win-win!

4. Stretch + get centered

After you finish your workout, cool down with some slow, deep stretches while your muscles are warm. Stretching prevents muscle cramps and improves flexibility while helping your body slowly come down to a more comfortable resting heart rate. While cooling down, take 5-7 minutes to meditate. Set some intentions for the day ahead: How will you interact with others? How can you ready yourself for potential challenges? How can you treat yourself and others with kindness and push yourself toward your goals today?

5. Eat a protein-rich breakfast

You’ve always been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and you won’t find any contradictory words here! Round out your morning routine with a quick protein shake or delicious protein muffins made with Farm to Muscle’s organic protein!

While the individual components of your morning routine might alter a little from day to day, remember that consistency is key when establishing new behaviors! Do your best not to get discouraged, and if you miss a day here and there, just pick right back up where you left off. Grab a friend and encourage them to join in for the sake of accountability if needed, and you can both celebrate the benefits of your new, structured mornings with Farm to Muscle’s organically-grown protein.
